- 石渠寶笈初編（重華宮），下冊，頁807&*故宮書畫錄（卷八），第四冊，頁95&*故宮書畫圖錄，第十冊，頁279-280&*王原祁（西元一六四二－一七一五年），江蘇太倉人。字茂京，號麓臺。時敏孫，康熙庚戌（一六七０）進士，歷官少司農。畫由家學，遠邁時倫，為清四大家之一。 岡巒疊起，江村錯落，景色蕭疏。作者以側筆皴山，用筆辛辣，以赭綠染山，隨意加減，自具變化。據幅上作者款題，此畫成於康熙辛巳（西元一七０一年），乃作者六十歲之作。 &*Wang Yüan-ch’i, native to T’ai-ts’ang, Kiangsu, was a grandson of the painter Wang Shih-min and a Presented Scholar (chin-shih) of 1670, serving as Vice Minister of Revenue. He followed the family tradition of painting, his abilities far surpassing contemporaries, ranking him among the Four Ch’ing Masters. Depicted here are piled peaks and ridges, scattered river hamlets, and lonely and desolate vistas. Wang used a slanted brush to texture the peaks, and the brushwork appears cutting. Using ocher and green for the mountains, the painter added or omitted these colors as he pleased to create many variations.
