He was a capable painter, and his landscapes are particularly elegant. This painting depicts four types of plants associated with the Dragon Boat Festival: pomegranate, lily, hollyhock, and artemisia moxa. The plants were painted in the boneless and hsieh-yi (free-style) methods of painting. The brushwork is simple and the colors are delicate and refined. The painting is abundantly expressive.
