秘殿珠林續編(乾清宮),頁214&*故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁502&*故宮書畫圖錄,第九冊,頁303-304&*無作者名款。 畫觀音菩薩坐於木榻上,榻前置一蓮托圓案,榻身案週滿畫紋飾,花紋純以淡墨勾勒成,繁密交錯,而墨色勻淨有似染就。尤足驚嘆者,於榻背屏壁方寸之地,書寫全篇妙法蓮華經觀世音菩薩普門品文,字若蚊足,肉眼幾難辨認。通幅白描,線細如針尖毫髮,稱其繪畫技巧,使筆成線已達精能之極限,似不為過。&*The Bodhisattva Kuan-yin is shown seated on a couch. The couch is marked with a dense pattern of interlocking strokes of light, even ink, almost like a wash. One of the most breathtaking parts of the painting is the feat of inscribing, the entire Kuan-yin (Samantamukha) chapter of the Lotus Sutra within single square inch on the screen behind the figure. The writing is so small that it can hardly be made out with the naked eye. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this painting exhausts the limits of fine and delicate line drawing.
