石渠寶笈初編(御書房),下冊,頁1151 &*故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁124 &*故宮書畫圖錄,第三冊,頁9&*用飛白法,迎面畫一巨石,墨淡而筆勁。石背叢竹三兩,畫葉用筆,如春山吐雲,娟婉而凝厚。寒柯一枝,山禽棲息,所為翎毛,蓋精妍之甚。細審筆墨,實已胎息初元,與趙孟頫有中郎之似。&*Dry brush 'flying white' strokes have been employed to shape the large rock: the ink is pale, the brushwork strong. Behind the rock lies a clump of bamboo: the leaves have been rendered as if 'the spring mountains were spiting out clouds'-gently but substantially. On a branch of the withered tree rests a mountain bird, beautifully and simply executed. Looking carefully at the brushwork, the painting seems pregnant with the stylistic qualities of the early Yüan dynasty. It seems moreover, indistinguishable from some of the works of Chao Meng-fu (1254-1322).
