石渠寶笈三編﹝延春閣﹞,第四冊,頁1969&*故宮書畫錄﹝卷五﹞,第三冊,頁405&*故宮書畫圖錄,第八冊,頁107-108&* 錢穀(西元一五○八─一五七二年),長州(江蘇吳縣)人,字叔寶,自號磬室。少孤失學,迨壯,遊文徵明門下,始得書讀之。以其餘力,點染水墨,山水蘭竹兼妙。 杏花開於春日,枝頭上飛來一隻喜鵲,寓有喜報春訊之意。畫花寫鳥之筆墨雅淡潤厚,並有沈周文徵明之遺韻。 &* Ch’ien Ku was a native of Wu-hsien, Kiangsu. His style name was Shu-pao, and he called himself Ch’ing-shih. As he was an orphan, his schooling was neglected. Later, when he became a pupil of Wen Cheng-ming (1470-1559), he eagerly devoted himself to reading. In his spare moments he painted excellent landscapes, orchids, and bamboo. Apricot flowers bloom in the spring. A magpie, also a harbinger of spring, has just landed on an apricot tree. The artist’s glossy, rich brushwork used in depicting the bird’s feathers is evidence of the influence of Ming masters Shen Chou and Wen Cheng-ming
