- 石渠寶笈續編（養心殿），第二冊，頁1002 &*故宮書畫錄（卷八），第四冊，頁67 &*故宮書畫圖錄，第四冊，頁177-178&*本幅描寫文學作品《後赤壁賦》中的一段，宋代文學家蘇東坡與客人泛舟於赤壁之下，孤鶴橫江，鳴掠而過。畫崖石用大筆斧劈皴，畫人物筆意蒼勁老辣，皆有追法宋馬遠之意。畫上無名款，舊傳為吳鎮之作。 吳鎮（西元一二八○—一三五四年），字仲圭，號梅花道人，是元代著名的詩人兼畫家。與黃公望、倪瓚、王蒙並稱為「元四大家」。&*This work depicts a scene described in "Latter Ode on the Red Cliff" by the great Sung poet Su Shih, who is shown as one of the figures in the boat. The site was immortalized by Su's odes composed after trips he made there in 1082. The crane shown here flying overhead is also mentioned in the ode. The artist here used large "axe-cut" texture strokes to describe the towering cliff, and the brushwork for the figures is strong and decisive. The style here actually derives from that of Ma Yüan (fl. 1189-1225), the famous Southern Sung court master.
