The proprietor of a small riverside inn waits for his servant to return with the wine-marinated fish he was sent out to buy. On the wooden bridge over the mountain torrent, a traveller braving the snow rushes forward on his way to the party, bringing with him new excitement for this otherwise quiet mountain village. This painting is unsigned, but has long been attributed to the Yüan dynasty.
