Following his grandfather’s style, he was known for tiger and plant-and-insect painting. Standing straight on a slope here is a T’ai-hu garden rock elegant and archaic in shape. Yellow hollyhocks, emerald bamboo, and wildflowers appear throughout the scene. In the air, on the branches, and on the ground are all kinds of insects flying and crawling. They include butterflies, moths, a wasp, a longhorn beetle, a grasshopper, and a locust. The work is filled with the strong sense of autumn. The weight of the composition is focused on the left half, and the brushwork and coloring appear quite steady and solid.
