He excelled at paintings of landscapes, trees and rocks, and flowers and bamboo; he was especially noted for his depictions of people and horses. Amounted gentleman who has come visiting stands waiting on a terrace next to a pond arched over with willow trees. Within the courtyard beyond, three gentlemen are about to reach the height of a literary gathering in a pavilion amidst thousand willows. All of the elements of the painting-willows, human figures, and buildings-are exquisitely rendered in elegant detail.
