He excelled at detailed and meticulous fine line painting (chieh-hua). With brushstrokes as fine as hair, all the forms in his works appear solid and proportional. Rendering the outward form to its fullest, he still was able to capture the spirit. In the Museum collection are three ruled-line handscrolls with similar compositions. They all represent the Sung dynasty (960-1279) custom of opening to the public the Gold Moon Lake in the palace on the third day of the third lunar month and holding a dragon boat regatta. The result is a festive setting of imperial splendor.&*王振鵬(約西元一二八○—一三二九年),浙江永嘉人,字朋梅,元仁宗賜號孤雲處士。任秘書監典簿,累遷至漕運千戶,以界畫名聞於世。此卷繪《東京夢華錄》卷七所載北宋清明節時皇帝駕臨開封金明池,觀看諸軍雜樂百戲與龍舟競渡等活動。據卷末署款,繪於元武宗至大三年(1310),王氏用細密繁複的線條勾畫宮殿樓閣、大小龍船,同時也繪製熱鬧的雜樂百戲等民俗活動,是為元代界畫之精品。(20100101)&*Wang Zhenpeng (style name Pengmei) was a native of Yongjia, Zhejiang, and given the sobriquet Guyun chushi by Emperor Renzong (Buyantu Khan; r. 1311-1320). He was Archivist in the Imperial Library and rose to Grain Transport Officer, but he was best known for his ruled-line painting. This work depicts the Northern Song (960-1127) emperor at Jinming Pond in Kaifeng on the Qingming Festival, as recorded in Dream Journey to the Eastern Capital. It shows him watching the forces and merriments along with a dragon boat regatta. The inscription at the end indicates this work was done in 1310. Wang Zhenpeng used fine, complex lines to precisely delineate the palatial structures and boats of all sizes, also depicting raucous genre scenes of merriment, making this a masterpiece of Yuan dynasty ruled-line painting.(20100101)&*1.陳韻如,〈「界畫」在宋元時期的轉折:以王振鵬的界畫為例〉,《國立臺灣大學美術史研究集刊》,第26期(2009),頁135-192。
