- 中文摘要:本論文乃就台南市媽祖廟為研究之對象，試圖探討廟宇建築於創建之後的生命週期中所發生之興衰與變遷情形。尤其至近代，於激烈的經濟、社會、文化變遷下，廟宇建築因應近代文明衝擊而發生之現代化過程，其變遷之現象、背後之影響因素及影響方式尤為本文探討之重點。正文中以方位、空間及形式等三個建築面向切入主題，期使台南市媽祖廟建築之傳統與現代之間的對照性得有清楚的面貌呈現。各章之主要內容摘要如下：第一章、緒論：簡述研究之動機、目的、對象、範圍、相關文獻回顧及架構、流程。第二章、建制方式與影響勢力之變遷：概述各廟之建制緣由及日後影響範圍的擴張與收縮，兼述媽祖廟之間特殊正統香火的爭議，以使對後文中實體建築方位、空間及形式之論述做奠基之工作。第三章、方位之變遷：以序時之論述方式，探討台南市媽祖廟於創建時方位之擇取方式及創建後基址的遷移現象，以及導致變遷的影響因子。第四章、空間之變遷：以序時之論述方式，探討台南市媽祖廟空間組構方式及空間使用方式之變遷，以及導致變遷的影響因子。第五章、形式之變遷：以序時之論述方式，探討台南市媽祖廟構架形式及屋頂形式之變遷，以及導致變遷的影響因子。第六章、結論：綜述台南市媽祖廟建築之變遷現象及其影響因素，並歸結出傳統式和現代式廟宇之類型以及之間的差異性。
- 英文摘要:The main purpose of this thesis is to study on the Matsu temples of Tainan City in architecture by discussing the rise and fall during their life cycle.Especially on recent times,the building of Matsu temples is modernised under the great changes on economy ,society and culture ,therefore,our emphases are tracing the reason why they are modernised and then by what kinds of influences.Mainly through the viewpoints of siting,space and form in architecture,we hope to clearify the historical fact between the tradition and the modernity of Tainan Matsu temples. Ⅰ.Preface：To express briefly the motive and purpose of our study and then to review the related studies, and the structure of this thesis.Ⅱ.The evolutions of the founded mode and the transformation of influential：Ways of establishing Matsutemples and the changes of influences on their believers afterwords.Ⅲ.Siting：To study the first siting of Matsu temples and why and how they were moved afterwords.Ⅳ.Space：To study the ways of organising temples'' plan and why and how they were changed afterwords,and then to describe the space uses at present.Ⅴ.Form：To study the transformation of the building structure and the roof''s styles and how they were changed afterwords.Ⅵ.Conclusion：To synthesis the transformation of the Matsu temples and causes, and furthermore, to summarize the styles of traditional and
