- 中文摘要:慚愧祖師信仰起源於閩粵交界地帶，目前已有研究證明其是生於福建省汀州地區卻得道於廣東省陰那山靈光寺的唐代高僧潘了拳，屬於佛教得道高僧轉為民間信仰俗神的性質。此信仰在大陸原鄉就屬於地域性非常強烈的區域守護神，因此轉移到臺灣也明顯的侷限在中部，屬閩粵共祀情形，以「防蕃」功能著稱。信仰對漢人社會的建立具有精神慰藉的作用，南投縣屬多山的地理形勢，具有防蕃功能的信仰更是人民內心不可或缺的需求。臺灣早期的漢人社會主要以地緣為基礎，形成社會群體。村廟的存在就是群體共生的象徵。因此要了解此群體構成的聚落特質，必須從聚落的村廟著手。 本研究以南投縣境內的慚愧祖師廟宇為主軸分析，再延伸與南投縣有分香關係的廟宇。探討南投縣聚落的建立與慚愧祖師信仰發展的關係，文分五章節。第一章節描述研究動機與目的、研究範圍與概述慚愧祖師信仰研究。第二章節則要討論慚愧祖師信仰在南投縣的形成，先論述南投縣漢人建構聚落的歷程與村廟建立年代關係，再探討此信仰和南投縣聚落的互動關係，第三章節則要探討南投縣慚愧祖師信仰的現況，以前人的調查結果為根據，實地訪查南投縣供奉慚愧祖師的廟宇，調查目前的信仰情況，以調查結果與前人調查研究交叉比對，列出南投縣慚愧祖師信仰的分佈情況和香火傳播的情形。第四章節則要以祭祀圈觀點，探討慚愧祖師信仰在南投縣的發展情況，分析南投縣慚愧祖師的祭祀圈情形，神像造型藝術的演化歷程、傳說的創化與類別等。結論則就目前慚愧祖師在南投縣內存在的諸多模糊概念，做問題探討並釐清問題。
- 英文摘要:The Tsankuei Tsushih Worship faith originates in Fujian province and hands over boundary district and have already had a research and fooled currently it be got to province 汀 state region in Fukien but Be achieved wisdom to province in Guangdong that mountain working temple of Tang Dynasty monk of high renown Pan boxing, belong to Buddhism and achieve wisdom monk of high renown and turn into folks and believe in the property of the vulgar God.This faith belongs to the region very strong district patron saint in original country in the mainland, therefore transfer Taiwan to also obviously limit in the central part, belong to in Fujian province to totally sacrifice situation, write to call by"defend aborigine " function.The faith has the function of full of energy solace to the Han people social establishment, Nantou County belongs to mountainous geography situation, and the faith that has to defend aborigine function is also necessary people's heart need.The Han people in Taiwanese earlier period are mainly social with ground good luck for foundation, form social community.The existence of the village temple is the symbol of community symbiosis.Consequently want to understand the settlement characteristic that this community constitutes, have to begin from the village temple of settlement. This research with Nantou County inshore Tsankuei Tsushih Worship temple for the principal axis analyze, again there is the temple that divide into the fragrant relation in extension and Nantou County.Inquire into the establishment of settlement in Nantou County to believe in the relation of development with Tsankuei Tsushih Worship the text divides into five chapters.The first chapter describes research motive and purpose, range of research and all says Tsankuei Tsushih Worship faith research.The second chapter then wants to discuss that the Tsankuei Tsushih Worship believes in in the formation of Nantou County and discusses process and village temple that the Han people in Nantou County construct settlement first to build up an age to relate to, again inquire into this interaction relation between faith and settlement in Nantou County, the third chapter then want to inquire into the current conditions that Tsankuei Tsushih Worship in Nantou County believes in, before the person's survey result is basis, on the spot visit to check the temple of the oblation Tsankuei Tsushih Worship in Nantou County, investigate current faith present condition, again investigate a research by investigating result and predecessors to cross ratio to, list Tsankuei Tsushih Worship in Nantou County to believe in of distribute the situation of condition and joss stick dissemination.The fourth chapter then with want to offer sacrifices to a turn of standpoint, inquire into that the Tsankuei Tsushih Worship believes in in Nantou County of development condition, offering sacrifices to of Tsankuei Tsushih Worship in analytical Nantou County a turn of situation, the creating of the evolving of idol plastic art process, legend turns and category etc.. Conclusion then currently the Tsankuei Tsushih Worship is in many misty concepts of existence inside Nantou County and do a problem study and distinguish a problem.
