- 故宮書畫錄（卷八），第四冊，頁168&* 普賢行取材於法華第二十八品﹝普賢菩薩勸發品﹞。普賢菩薩「勸」人「發」心宏揚法華，並誓願守護所有受持、讀誦、解說、書寫及修習法華的菩薩行者。「普賢萬行」意指菩薩道法門不止一端，而普賢菩薩亦無定相，「以一切眾生所喜現身」。勸發品中三度提及普賢菩薩將「乘坐六牙白象王」現身於行者面前，「安慰其心，與共讀頌，或為其說法」。本幅為無量壽佛會慶圖冊第十一幅。 &* The main subject of Chapter 28 of the Lotus Sūtra is the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. Samantabhadra exhorts people to propagate the teachings of the Lotus Sūtra, and has made a vow to protect and encourage all who uphold, chant expound, write, and study the Lotus Sūtra. Samantabhadra shows that the way to Buddhahood is manifold. Since he appears in many forms to the sentient beings, there is no set way to depict him.
