Over the centuries, numerous copies were painted. Some paintings include a scene of Mao Yen-sou painting the portrait of a court lady. Other renditions do not include this scene. There are three Ch’ing dynasty versions of this handscroll in the National Palace Museum, of which this is one. This scroll was painted by Chou Kun, Chang Wei-pang, Ting Kuan-p’eng, and Yao Wen-han in 1748. The colors of the palaces and pavilions, ponds, bridges, rocks, flowers, and trees are beautiful and bright, creating a refined and elegant look. &*1.
