石渠寶笈續編(養心殿),第二冊,頁1156&*故宮書畫錄(卷五),第三冊,頁517-518&*故宮書畫圖錄,第十冊,頁119-120&*王翬(西元一六三二-一七一七年),常熟人。字石谷,號耕煙散人、清暉主人、烏目山人、劍門樵客。山水得王時敏指授,為清四大家之一。此畫成於戊午花朝,作者四十七歲。溪塢之間,一峰特起,其下平林古寺,溪藪漁舟。全幅用水甚豐,畫面一片濕潤,筆亦極為生動,是石谷畫中,最饒天趣者。是年二月廿一日,石谷與武進唐于光同在蘇州,去花朝蓋不足十日也。&* Wang Hui was a native of Ch’ang-shu in Kiangsu province. He was already a capable painter in his youth when he met Wang Chien and Wang Shih-min who became his teachers. In addition to providing him with through instruction in painting, they also took him to view and copy the works of the ancient masters of many great collections. In this way, he was able to absorb the brush techniques of both the past and the present masters. Because Wang Hui was able to unite the best qualities of the Northern and Southern Schools of painting and because of his consummate skill, he became the greatest master of brush technique of the Ch’ing dynasty. This was painted on March 7th, 1678, when Wang Hui was in his 47th year. A single peak points sharply upwards out of a river landscape. Below lie woods and ancient temples, while an angle’s boat drifts on the water. The artist has used a very wet brush, resulting in a rich and moist appearance. The brush strokes are full of life and the work is exceptional in Wang Hui’s oeuvre for its easy and natural quality.
