- 石渠寶笈續編（御書房），第四冊，頁1967-1971&*故宮書畫錄（卷一），第一冊，頁87-93&* 趙肅（生卒年不詳），字彥恭，為趙孟頫從孫。本卷乃趙肅為其母衛氏所書墓誌，結字筆法頗得趙氏家法。因幅末有「趙孟頫書」款，是以項元汴跋文中認為是趙文敏所作，後傳入清內府，經高宗乾隆詳考，定為趙肅所書。卷尾另有趙孟頫孫趙麟詩跋，麟與肅之書，傳世皆不多，此一卷之中得見兩人之作，甚是難得。本幅右下方有千字文第四七八「聚」字號，卷末並有項元汴「其值參拾金」語。&*趙肅。趙孟頫族孫。生卒年不詳。字彥恭。有樵林楓葉詩帖傳世。 此幅原標為趙孟頫。但孟頫卒於至治壬戌。衛宜人卒於至正癸卯。此卷之成。去趙孟頫之卒已四十二年。且文末有事嚴未暇乞銘。謹誌歲月納諸幽之語。故清高宗定為趙肅書。為確切有據。卷尾有趙麟詩跋。麟與肅之書。傳世皆不多。此一卷之中而兩具之。&*Chao Su was the grandson of Chao Meng-fu. The dates of Chao Su's birth and death remain unknown. His calligraphy is known to us through the manuscript, Chiao-lin feng-yeh shih. This scroll, written in remembrance of Madame Wei, the mother of Chao Su, is a manuscript intended to be carved in stone to accompany burial. The original attribution was made to Chao Meng-fu. But Chao Meng-fu died in 1322, while Madame Wei died forty-two years after Chao's own death. Thus the Ch'ing dynasty Ch'ien-lung Emperor's later attribution to Chao Su is made with good reason. A poetic colophon by Chao Lin is appended. &* Zhao Su was the grandnephew of Zhao Mengfu. This epitaph for his mother, Madame Wei, was calligraphed to be carved in stone for her burial. The characters and brushwork are both in the Zhao family style. The end has the signature, “Calligraphed by Zhao Mengfu,” so Xiang Yuanbian in his colophon assigned the work to him. Later it entered the Qing imperial collection. The Qianlong Emperor had a study conducted, re-attributing it to Zhao Su. At the end is a colophon by Zhao Mengfu’s grandson, Zhao Lin. Very few works by Su and Lin survive, making this a rare example. The lower right here reveals a character, “ju 聚,” the 478th from the “Thousand Character Classic,” used by Xiang for accessioning. At the end he wrote, “Its value is 30 gold.”
