According to a record in Genealogy of Heavenly Masters from the Han, Chang Yü-ch´u was the 43rd Heavenly Master descended from the Han and was awarded the title “Wu-wei (Doing Nothing).” In 1386, the Hung-wu Emperor ordered Chang to pray for rain, and the results were immediate. Chang´s collected writings are found in Hsien-ch´üan chi, in 12 volumes. In this work in running script, 164 characters in 12 lines appear. It is signed, “A discourse bestowed by Heavenly Master Wu-wei.” His three seals here include his name, his genealogical rank, and “Ch´i-shan,” as well as various collectors’seals. This scroll is recorded in chüan three of Paintings and Calligraphy in the National Palace Museum. &*故宮歷代法書全集，第十六冊，頁120-154、184-189
