- 石渠寶笈初編（御書房），下冊，頁1128&*故宮書畫錄（卷五），第三冊，頁374&*故宮書畫圖錄，第七冊，頁123-124&*文徵明（西元一四七０─一五五九年），江蘇長洲人。初名壁，字徵明，後以字行。亦字徵仲，號停雲生、衡山居士。詩文書畫並佳，為明四大家之一。 白雲盤滯山腰，飛泉來自重巖深處。谿谷一人臨流，坐聽松風，眼觀飛泉。款題「文壁」，舊傳文氏四十歲前名「壁」，四十歲後改「徵明」。據此名款與其畫風，約為四十歲左右之作。&*Listening to a Waterfall Under Pines Wen Cheng-ming (1470-1559) Ming Dynasty Wen Cheng-ming, a native of Soochow, excelled in the arts of belles-lettres, poetry, painting, and calligraphy. He was one of the Four Great Masters of the Ming. A cloud-skirted peak rises in the center of the composition. To the left a waterfall emerges from the dark recesses between two vertical cliffs. A scholar, dwarfed by the immense mountain, sits on a river bank in the valley leisurely viewing the waterfall and listening to the wind in the pines. The signature “Wen Pi” appears in the lower left corner of the inscription. It is said that Wen signed his name as such until he was 39, after which he used “Wen Cheng-ming.” Both signature and style here thus suggest a date around 1510, when he was 39. &*1.江兆申，〈文徵明松下聽泉 軸〉，收入國立故宮博物院編，《吳派畫九十年展》（臺北：國立故宮博物院，1975年初版，1976年再版，1981年三版），頁303。
