- 內容摘要說明：Writing and correcting Jamieson's papers about the ladie's in Canada doing me injustice in correspondence with Mr. Jamieson - Stopped this kind of work at 6 P.M. then till 10 P.M. Spent meditating on God's Eternal promises etc.-Then with A. Hoa' Mrs. Mackay' our children' Kau-a etc. and at 11 P.M. saw the whole procession pace before us- 1) Several playing on gongs drums etc. hideous enough' terrible on the ears. 2) Eight men carried a large chair with an idol in it. Sitting down and burning incense Sticks in front of him on a table. Many on both side of chair with candles burning and incense sticks lighted and moved in their hands from right to left. 3) A table turn upside down and carried by the four legs with wax Candles ( Foreign made) burning' also cakes and abundance of mock money- 4) The little black devil I.E. a boy dressed mostly of that of color and representing. The large white devil I.E. a tall man with a cap of paper 3 feet high and long flowing dress of white representing. 5) Crowds playing different musical instructments- 6) Several small girls carried by ten men in a large got up chair' some sing' some playing Guitars etc. 7) Fifty with guns ( foreign made) the old kind into procession caps- firing at nearly every corner. 8) Ten sorcerers each standing on a table carried by a dozen men or more- 9) One had a rod of iron 4 feet in length 2 feet on each side of his mouth and right through the cheeks-one had an axe and at times would pretend to strike the forehead etc.-all had long large glistening knives and all stripped bare with their disheveled hair hanging down their bleeding backs-all had bleeds' foreheads and all unearthly' wild' foolish' devilish looks. Why Such cutting of the flesh ? Such inhuman acts?
