Ox-driven carts appear one after another as they make their way along the path in the background. In the foreground courtyard, oxen and donkeys appear at rest. In front of the hall, two figures hold hands as if meeting to discuss a journey. Using a narrative technique, the artist handled with detail the harshness of deep winter and the life of traveling in the countryside. The slopes and rocks were all done with slanting axe-cut texture strokes. The strong brushwork and dark ink stand out against the blank areas of snow for a detailed arrangement. The brushwork perhaps suggests the hand of a later Sung artist influenced by the style of Li T'ang.
